India Latest News NEET Paper Leak: A Common Mindset in India

The NEET paper leak controversy is the manifestation of a systemic malaise in the Indian education system that has been around for decades now. There have been cases paper leaks in other exams earlier in different parts of the country according to today news in Hindi but none of these have led to such a large uproar on such a scale as this NEET paper leak.

Let us talk about the BJP first. For all the high moral ground that the party takes up at every turn this NEET paper leak controversy has become a major embarrassment especially after a poor performance in the recently concluded elections going by Hindi news as well as news from other media outlets.

Was the BJP not aware of the irregularities in the National Testing Agency [NTA] as well as in other educational institutions where exam papers have been leaking for decades now?

Of course they are aware of it but this matter does not feature anywhere in the top half of their list of priorities because it is complex and would require them to go deep into the roots to resolve it.

Going to the root of the matter will require tough legislation and strict action against the criminals in the education system that leak exam papers.

Irregularities in education and youth affairs are heavily politicised

When we look at the way the student's wing of the Congress has latched on to the matter of NEET paper leak, it becomes clear that such issues have become a zero sum game in politics.

If your party is in power, then you will have to explain everything related to the controversy and if you are in the opposition then you are in a position to ask all the leading questions as the Congress is doing now.

However, this whole business of exam paper leaks has been going on for decades now and even this current issue regarding NEET has a history dating back many years as per today news in Hindi.

The criminals in the Indian educational system come from all segments and they can be teachers, students or administrative staff.

Lack of ethical standards among a large number of Indians

It is quite a contradiction that the highest ethical standards in not just educational institutions but in every other institution was the cornerstone of Indian civilization and culture.

If that were not so, then the great vedas and vedantas or the Bhagvad Gita would not have evolved in India and yet we have this problem of low ethical standards in modern India that has pulled down our ability to excel.

Of course, we still have a very large segment of our people who can rise to the highest levels in an environment where merit is the main yardstick for measuring excellence.

The current controversy regarding NEET exams has surely dented India's image as country that produces highly skilled technical human resources by the millions as per today news in Hindi.

The BJP-led NDA government has finally brought in some tough legislation in the form of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 to deal with the problem of paper leaks. Although it is a little late in the day but it should be applauded and supported but most importantly implemented well.
